You may remember that Bristol Autism Support were recently awarded the Queens Award for Voluntary Service. In recognition of this achievement two members of the Bristol Autism Support team were invited to attend the Buckingham Palace Garden Party in celebration of the Kings Coronation.
Our top volunteers names were put in a hat to see who would attend with the honour going to Jane Walton and Lizzie Witchard. Jane and Lizzie have both given hundreds of hours of their time to BAS and are wonderful representatives celebrating on behalf of everyone at BAS.
Jane has been a member of BAS from its early days and has benefitted from support and advice, as well as the social activities for children and adults on numerous occasions. For the past four years Jane has been a Trustee for Bristol Autism Support, starting out as our secretary and is now Chair of Bristol Autism Support.
Lizzie has been a part of BAS for nearly 10 years. She wears many hats within the organisation, offering parent support, running in-person groups and mentoring our volunteers. She co-ordinates our helpline and is taking on a new role as a wrap around coordinator.
On 3rd May 2023 Lizzie and Jane travelled up to London for the Garden Party to celebrate the Coronation at Buckingham Palace. They had a fabulous day and Jane said ‘What a day! Privileged to be representing Bristol Autism Support at a Garden Party for the Coronation. I’ll certainly remember this for a long time’.
