Fundraising and Charity Partner Update

We have much to tell you since our last fundraising update at the end of last year.

BAS continue to work with our charity partner, the Double Tree by Hilton City Centre, who have raised over £1800 by running the Bristol 10K on 19th May.  It was a hot sunny day, so it was a challenge for everyone running, but BAS were there to cheer them on from start to finish. One of their team members had travelled all the way from North Wales to take part, and another ran on her birthday!

Our Facebook post covering the event is here and includes links to donate to anyone who ran for BAS on the day!

We’d also like to mention Katie Snook who ran the 10K for us. It was great to meet you at the finish line Katie – thank you for supporting BAS !

Additional fundraising events with the hotel team have included BAS volunteers running cloakrooms at Christmas parties and the Double Tree Hilton staff party raffle. These events have raised almost £1500 for BAS.

Ahad Vahabzadeh and his team do so much to support us, including hosting our meetings and events. A huge thanks to everyone at Double Tree Hilton Bristol City Centre. We have some more exciting events planned with them later in 2024.

Our year-long charity partnership with National Friendly recently ended with a cheque presentation to BAS at the local National Friendly offices. You can read more about our visit here Bristol Autism Support accepts cheque from National Friendly (bristol247.com)

National Friendly raised an amazing total of over £10,500 for BAS across the year through several exciting events including a 100km challenge, a silent auction and quiz. We are extremely grateful to the team for their amazing support and fundraising.

There are so many organisations and individuals who have supported us over the last 6 months. Donations and fundraising include:

  • A £5,000 donation from Renishaw – we are hoping to do further work with them in the coming months.
  • Over £800 from the Henleaze Festival after participating in their Christmas Fair. Thank you to Nina Newsom for meeting with our team at Imperial Sports Ground to present us this cheque.

  • Audley Village held a quiz night and raffle, which raised over £800.
  • More than £2000 was raised through donations from Wickwar social club, St Augustine Lodge, Province of Bristol Masonic Charity Fund and several private donations.
  • Enormous thanks go to all of our Friends of BAS and pay roll givers who donate to us on a monthly basis.

This much needed fundraising helps support a growing charity like BAS who now support over 4000 families in the Bristol area with autistic children. Our income relies entirely on grants and fundraising so we can keep our support groups, courses running for free and events at a very low cost for our families.
