BAS is a growing charity supporting over 3,500 families in the Bristol area with autistic children. Our income relies entirely on grants and fundraising so we can keep our support groups, courses and events running for free or at a very low cost for our families. Our charity partnerships are an important part of our work.
Towards the end of 2022, we reported that we had partnered with DoubleTree by Hilton Bristol City Centre, an update on our fundraising activity with them is further down the page!
In May this year, we were chosen as “Charity of the Year” by the locally based “National Friendly” who are a mutual society which helps their members meet health, welfare and protection through a wide range of financial products.
In June, Louise (Operations Manager) and Laura (Fundraising and Events Coordinator) did an introductory talk about BAS at the National Friendly offices in Queens Square. National Friendly have already organised the raffle of a hamper donated to BAS and are planning a quiz night! We are currently working with them for more ideas on how they can fundraise for BAS throughout the rest of 2023/2024.
DoubleTree Hilton Bristol have been generously raising money for BAS this year, including installing a contactless donation point in the hotel lobby area.
In June, the team went above and beyond and ran the Bristol 10k to support us! Some of the BAS team went along to cheer them and one of our new Trustees, Adam Baker, across the finish line. BAS Team Member Liz Clarke was lucky enough to interview the Hotel Manager, Ahad Vahabzadeh, about the race. You can read the interview here.
More fundraising activities are planned for September, so we look forward to those updates. If you have any fundraising news or ideas for us, please get in touch – fundraising@bristolautismsupport.org
